STFC Chairman receives his Knighthood

The Science and Technology Facilities Council congratulates its Chairman, Professor Michael Sterling, who has this week been officially knighted by the Prince of Wales.
Sir Michael received his Knighthood from Prince Charles at an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
Professor Sterling’s Knighthood is in recognition of his remarkable services to higher education, science and engineering, along with his drive and commitment to enhancing the UK’s reputation in these fields. A highly effective and respected Chairman at STFC since 2009, Professor Sterling’s distinguished career includes a total of 19 years as a Vice-Chancellor, at Brunel University followed by the University of Birmingham, as well as Chair of the Russell Group. He has been a member of the Prime Minister’s Council for Science and Technology since 2004 serving three Prime Ministers and has also served as President of the Institution of Electrical Engineering and the Institute of Measurement & Control.
